Back

If you're reading this, you likely already know our story of Texas to Central Asia to Virginia to Washington. You know our work with the Central Asia Harvest Project. You receive our newsletters, and you're probably aware that Aaron used to be a regular blogger before moving overseas last year.

Well, now that we're back in the States for a while and are now toting around 2 offspring, we decided to blog again with a vengeance. So let's get this party started with a few recent photos...

Change of Addresss

Family Dowdy is ever closer to reaching our goal! We've moved to Virginia for the final couple of months while trying to raise the remaining monthly support needed.

For the time being, we're going to cease blogging on this site while resuming writing for our "Too Many Coats" blog. On that site you'll find regular updates regarding our move to Central Asia, thoughts on current events, and rambling about faith issues.

Please keep up with us at that site! The address is:

Last Week

The open house was a great success last week! Much thanks to everyone who joined us for a night to catch a glimpse of Central Asia.

We're now down to our last week in Texas before heading to Virginia for the holidays. Though we're excited about the transition...we have so much to do!

Open House

As many of you know, we're having an Open House this Sunday, December 10, 4-6pm at 1825 Washington here in Waco. We'll be showing a video of the Central Asia Harvest Project, sharing photos of our village, and trying out some Central Asian food. (Well, Faith and I are going to try to make it taste as "Central Asian" as possible!)

Come learn more about our assignment! All are invited.

Introducing Silas

Last Saturday, August 26 at 6:17am, Faith and I were finally joined by the newest member to the family--Silas Thoma Dowdy. He weighed 9lb, 1oz and was 23 inches long. We feel extremely blessed to be parents of such a beautiful child. More to come...

Big Days Ahead

These next few weeks are important for us! First of all, Baby Dowdy is due any day now. Secondly, we're really starting to talk to people regarding support for our assignment in Kazakhstan. Within a month, we'll be travelling east to Virginia to visit with friends and family there.

Please keep us in your prayers as we look to welcome our son to the world while also trying to prepare for introducing him to a life overseas.

Transitioning into Transition

In a matter of months, we'll be calling Kazakhstan home. While there, Faith and I will be learning a whole new culture and language as we try to figure out the whole parenting thing...which seems to be a totally different culture and language itself!!! Right now, the fact that we're going to be mommy and daddy to an infant in approximately 40 days is quite overwhelming.

As we continue to raise support, please lift us up in your prayers as we plan for transition.

Mark the date!

This week, Faith and I officially were endorsed by IDEAS for a 2-year assignment in Kazakhstan! This site hopes to provide updates, prayer requests, and adventures as we get ready to have our son, start raising support, and prepare for travel to Central Asia!

More to come later!
